Gardening supplies FAQs
Q: If I choose to do organic gardening, is it
still possible for me to end up with pest-free plants?
A: Yes. There are many other techniques besides simple pesticides
that will keep unwanted pests away from your plants. These organic gardening
techniques will keep your garden from harm without harming the environment
or you in the process. An example of a simple and oft used bit of organic
gardening is buying ladybugs to release in your garden. Ladybugs have
long been a gardener’s friend – they do not eat your plants,
but eat those bugs that normally would.
Q: Is it possible to give my plants too much water?
A: You likely already know that with too little water, your
plants will dry up, but with too much water, they will wilt. Also, as
in the case of the tomato plant, too much water can actually make the
tomatoes taste watery. You want to allow your fruiting plants dry out
as much as possible. You do not want them to wilt. In fact, near the
end of the growing season, you will want to cut off water completely.
Green tomatoes will indeed ripen.
Q: Do I really need to have a “green thumb”
to start my own garden?
A: You may feel like you can not keep anything alive, but starting your
own garden may be the best way to prove to yourself that you really
can grow things. Of course, before you start a-growing, you may want
to read a few books or articles with gardening tips. It is also good
to make sure you follow the directions on the backs of seed packets
and fertilizer, etc.
