Organic gardening

Organic gardening is not just about healthful food and a healthy environment. Organic gardening is not about protecting just one or the other, it is about both. The health of the environment is always important, as is our own individual health. Organic gardening is a step towards making both the earth and humans healthier.

Organic gardening does not use pesticides for pest control. Instead, an organic gardener uses substantial diversity. There has not been extensive enough research on pesticides to see how much harm they may cause to humans, but it is certain that pesticides are harmful no only to the pests they are trying to control, but also to other birds and animals. Also, rather than using a purchased fertilizer, an organic gardener will try to provide as much fertility as possible with local sources of nutrients.
